Do you have animals that require bedding? I shred my paper (junk mail, newspaper, letters (no glossy stuff)) and use it for bedding with the goats. When I clean the pen I put the used stuff in the compost pile and into the garden it goes in the spring.
Don't throw those plastic water bottles away. If you can't take them to the recycling center, refill them. I like to fill them half full and place them in the freezer. When I'm ready for an ice cold drink I top it off and I have a refreshing drink.
Magnet calendars that are out of date can be used to put photos on the fridge. Just use some two sided tape or glue and put a family photo right over the outdated info. Now you can have something you enjoy looking at looking right back at ya.
Coffee cans, milk jugs, creamer containers and the like are fantastic for cutting down and using for seed starting planters. You can punch holes in the bottoms and place in trays for watering.
I put my barn cat food in large creamer containers for keeping in the barn. Those mice love cat food and are more than happy to eat through the bag to get it.
Do you have a wood burning stove? Don't throw away your cereal and macaroni boxes.
Roll them up and use them to start your fires. We use all kinds of cardboard boxes and papers that you would normally throw in the trash. It keeps it from going to the landfill and you have all the kindling you need at the same time.
